Nestled in the hills just to the south of New Milford, Bridgewater covers the smallest area of land of the eight towns comprising the Greater New Milford region and stands as the idyllic farming community - ideal for true country living. Traditional homes and rolling hills punctuate the peaceful surroundings of this town.
Set in the Litchfield Hills, which is prominently recognized as “one of the premier destinations in New England”, the rural charm of Bridgewater has long been a lure to visitors. Overview of Commercial Area:
Bridgewater’ s commercial zoning allows for
a mix of residential with commercial. There
are two commercial zones in the town; the
Town Green and a section of approx. one-
and-a-half miles along both aides of Route
67. The Town Green shopping area is
comprised of buildings which blend in
architecturally with surrounding residences.
In the Route 67 commercial area, there are a
couple more contemporary buildings but, in
general, the town of Bridgewater has very
limited commercial space. With few
exceptions, commercial space is privately
owned and not leased.
